During the summer, these fields would usually be filled with vibrant colors and so many flowers the scent could get intoxicating. But this wasn't summer. The flowers had withered up, so the whole field was nothing but a pale brown with the only noticeable plants being those thick bushes of thorns... not exactly a pretty sight. OK, maybe the plains could have looked pretty if it where covered in snow, but the harsh winds that constantly swept threw the place during this time of year swept away what little snow did fall, and made it too cold for new snow.
In short, this usually beautiful northern plains had become a slumbering wasteland. At first glance, it looked dead threw and threw, and it was difficult to believe any creature would bother visiting the area during winter. But at a second glance, you would spot that moose cow and calf in the far end, eating what they could on the frozen ground, or maybe that buck not too far away from them rubbing his antlers across the ground in meek hope of relieving their itching. Maybe you have sharper eyes and spotted that white hare hiding under a group of the aforementioned thorns, waiting for the hawk to fly off. No matter what you noticed, your first glance was a wrong impression. Even though the plants where in a way, dead, the plain was no less lively then it had been during spring.
At least, that's how Sirmiq's thoughts flower as his weary paws found themselves walking across the flatter expansion of land after having been exploring mountainous caverns the past week. The large wolf's stomach had taken to complaining after spending all day hiking with no breaks to eat. "I'm feeding ya, I'm feeding you." he sighed as it growled for the umpteenth time. The task of feeding, however, was going to be a lot harder then he thought. While on the mountains, his pale coloring blended in well, and sneaking up on small game and goats had been no problem, but here, where snow was absent, he stuck out like a sore thumb. Already, most of the usual prey animals where watching him with wary eyes. With his bulky form, he wasn't exactly the fastest guy around, so making a direct chase was out of the question....
Wait... was that a fox? Where there was a fox, there was almost always a dead animal to be scavenged or small rodents to hunt... hopefully lemmings. The large brute watched the other canidae, and when the fox froze, only to pounce moments later, Sirmiq's question was answered for him. Of course a normally grassy meadow would have rodents! Now that he knew they where there, it became a quick no duh! moment, as if he just listened he could hear some of the little guys scratching around under the ground. A more careful study of the plains also showed a couple of small rodents poking their heads out of the ground, and pulling bits of dried grass back under with them.
Spotting once such lemming, Sirmiq started to stalk his way over, careful to walk behind the rodent. Every time it's head popped out, he dropped down, and waiting, before closing in on it's entrance. In a matter of minutes, he found himself looking into the lemming's home, and the moment it's small head came out, Sirmiq sprang, his large teeth snapping shut on it's head and pulling the creature back out. In just a matter of moments, the critter was finding it's way to his stomache. Now, it was only one small critter, and a wolf of Sirmiq's size could eat over 20 pounds of meat to stay healthy. One morsel did nothing to calm his hunger, and he needed to eat a lot more of those guys to make his stomach quiet. However, before he could set off again to catch another, he became aware of another wolfish presence.

OOC: Decided to join, I hope that's okay! The she-wolf lightly stepped, watching her footing. Her strides were long and graceful, from a distance it would appear was was floating. Her slim frame, made her move quickly, like a phantom. The femme was too occupied finding her own food source to detect another wolf around the area. Her gray blue eyes scanned the northern plains, there were moose and other large animals, but far too large for a small femme, like herself to take down on her own. She would just have to find something easier to take down. Her soft, light brown fur gently moved with the cool breeze. She scanned the plain once more, spotting a fairly good size hare. Seizing her opportunity, she crouched low, hiding behind some long blades of grass. As the hare came closer, pawing and sniffing the ground, the fae jumped, with her claws out ready. She caught and silently devoured her prey. Although, a small hare would not sustain her for very long, for she had not eaten in days. Her stomach quietly rumbled, she quietly hushed it.She sat back on her rump, and lifted her muzzle. Her, wet nose sniffed the air, in hopes of finding more food. Instead, she picked up another wolf's scent. Fresh. Male. Very near. She stood back up on all four paws. She was conflicted, does she howl and greet this stranger with caution? Or turn her back and go somewhere else? The wolf longed for another wolf's company though. It had been weeks since she had last been with any wolf, and the loneliness was killing her, it seemed. She was curious why a wolf would be here, in a place barren. Although, she was here as well, which made her think about her own answer. She quietly said to herself. The wolf took the chance. With a big inhale of crisp, cool air, she gave a timid and cautious, yet friendly howl. She sniffed the air once more and started to quietly walk towards the scent.

(Thank you)
His silvery grey ears perked when the howl reached them. Even though the noise had startled one of the easier lemmings into hiding, the brute was still almost rejoicing at meeting another wolf. His brother's small family was the last wolves the loner had seen, and that had been several months ago. His small bushy tail swayed a bit from it's low position as he replied back with his own howl of greeting. It was much louder then the one he had heard, and the end was broken up in a series of yips, as if he was still just a learning pup or a dog.
If he had been older, had more experience with other wolves, he might have been more wary of approaching a stranger. For all he knew, he might well have been trespassing upon someone's territory. Of course, his mom never had the chance to teach him the importance of boundaries, so that thought never crossed his mind. All Sirmiq could think about was how nice it would be to have someone to talk to for a bit, maybe play a small game, or how if they teamed up, he might have a better chance at catching something to eat.
Eager to meet up with the other wolf, Sirmiq began trotting towards the first howl, his tail wagging just a little faster when he spotted her across the plains. It took almost all his self control not to charge at her, tackle her, and jump straight into playing. When he deemed they where at a close enough distance to hold a decent conversation that didn't require shouting, he piped, "Hello!", using the most typical and over used greeting possible. "How are you? "

(I'll join too) Rainelese/RainyQuiet OneThe sorrowness of this day had tensed the satisfaction in her head. Not just the fact that she was in hiding, but she also was not the one to love dullness. Her powers had increased in both skill and power. It was so simple and yet she dimmed to realize it. As she had grew older, her powers did as well. Plus a little training involved every now and then. She had gone from mysterious, street-smart pup to serious, timid teenaged wolf. It was like the way of the seasons, but unlike the seasons, she tended to not die out so soon. It was only this day that made her feel un-easy for some reason.
The two small silver hoops in her ears had jingled a bit, as she scanned the area before her with her orange, pinkish, eyes. Then she realized where she had been. Northern to the city. Rarely did anything happen here. So maybe she would be safe. The white she-wolf sat down, calming a bit. Her black high lights in her fur had gotten darker, as if her fur had raised a bit. Even though she had been calm, her fur had tensed up a bit, sensing wolves near. She sniffed the cool, brisk air and happened to catch two scents.
"Hmph. Other wolves. Hopefully I won't have to waste my powers on them. It wouldn't end very nicely."
Those words, she spoke to herself, were in a mild tone. Then a streak of a howl came to her ears. At that instant, Rainelese had her hackles raised and her ears had perked up, pointing at the sky. She looked around and noticed it had been from a distance away. She calmed down a bit, letting her ears go down a bit. Then she sniffed the air. Nothing sounded too dangerous, the scents were very specific. One was a female. Not too young, not too old. The other was a male. More young than old. Rainelese growled in the back of her throat, then she stopped, hearing something coming her way.
"Hm? What's that?"
She said, quietly. Then she saw the male wolf, she hid behind a snow blanketed rock. Her eyes peered out to see the male walking. Then when he trotted away, Rainelese rose up, watching the male's backside leave.

The she wolf noticed the small silhouette get closer and closer. Soon, the silhouette became bigger and bigger until the she wolf saw how big this male really was. Her stance was cautious yet friendly. She looked at the male, analyzing whether she should run for it. Now the male was only a few feet away from her. Her tail swayed side to side, sharp quick swaying. Her fur on her back was standing up to make it appear that she was bigger. She was about to run for it when he started to say hello.
Taken by surprise, how.. Polite this male was, she was caught off guard. She looked at him with her gray blue eyes, still watching his every move. The she wolf then spoke. Her tone was soft. "Um, hello... I'm doing quite well, thank you." She was happy that she had found company, but wasn't sure if he was the right company for her... "And how are you doing on this crispy winter day?" The femme was still unaware of another two wolves, too busy watching the large male to smell them.

Up in a lonely tree, a sleek black she-wolf was jolted awake by the sounds of howling. She had been Preocupided with a dream, in which her sister had been calling her to help save a pup stuck on a floating rock. Floating rocks with pups on them. How weird. she opened purple eyes the color of twilight and took a look around. Her sister's presence had faded, so she guessed the pup was okay. Because of their mental connection, the siblings could share emotions and emotional messages. We will find eachother eventually. Down below her stood a female wolf. Moving towards her was another, larger make wolf. Farthest away of all, there was a pup crouched behind a boulder I'm pretty sure they can't see me up here, and my scent goes over their heads. she did not want to be seen, for personal reasons. Strangers thought she was a freak, a mutant, and would chase her away or run away themselves. It wasn't her powers of air that made her different, no sir. Other wolves held magic as well, like her sister. No, she was different because of another reason, a physical, not mental one. Standing slowlyon sleek black legs, she looked for an exit out of the tree and the area that would bring no notice to herself.

((Sorry for being inactive for a while. ))
Sirmiq's tail finally froze when she started speaking back, and his train of thought derailed. It always happened with strangers, no matter how much he wanted to play with another wolf, no matter how much he expected a conversation, once they started talking to him, his feet turned cold and he found it difficult to think of the next thing to say. It didn't help that he had been so eager to finally talk to someone again that he had neglected to plan out anything beyond saying "hello".
It took a couple of seconds for him to bring himself to answer her question. "I'm uhh... great. Yup, great! Err... bored actually. " he replied, and once again a rather awkward silence hovered in the air as he couldn't think of anything more. More out of nervousness and being unable to bring himself to look directly at a stranger, the large brute's amber gaze tilted to the side, studying the plains. As he did, he could have swore he spotted a white wolf in the meadow, but after a second glance and the only patch of white he could see was a snow covered rock, he dismissed the idea. The rock was far enough away that it could have easily just been playing tricks on his mind. Besides, this place was so boring. The only reason he was here was because he was passing threw. There! That was something to talk about, right? Though it was just minor chit-chat, this other wolf was the first wolf he had seen in a while, and he wasn't about to say "good day" just yet. " So... are you looking for something here?" he inquired, a bit of hope shining in his voice. Maybe she was looking for buried treasure? Buried treasure that's been booby trapped and no one has seen it in over 100 years! That would be so awesome! Maybe she'll even let him join in the quest? The more Sirmiq thought about the possibilities that she may be on some sort of quest, not only did his thoughts get more and more insane, but he grew a bit more relaxed, his tail once again starting that small wagging.

Mirage raised her eyebrow, as the brute awkwardly answered her question. There was an awkward pause, noticing his head tilted to one side and turned her head around to see what he was looking at. Mirage didn't know what exactly he was looking at so she turned her head back around and looked back at him. "I'm not here for anything in particular, just passing by..." She looked down at her paws before looking back at Sirmiq. "I'm Mirage." She dipped her head in politeness, before looking back up at the brute. Mirage still wasn't sure if this was a fight or flight situation. Time would tell which one it would be. This brute didn't seem like a threat, but Mirage was not completely sure. She wondered why he was here as well, with a place so barren right now. It seemed odd that any wolf would be here. Although, she was here as well, but she was only passing by.

Rainelese/RainyQuiet OneRainelese had looked at the male walk away. She decided it would be better to get closer to see what would happen. She padded, hiding behind some trees and rocks, as she walked closer. Finally she stopped, hiding behind another rock. She listened closely to the two wolves conversation. Her ears shot straight up when the male spoke first. Then when he looked over at her, she hid a bit. She was pretty sure she would blend in with the snow, but it was lighter than she was.
She listened as the female introduced herself. Then Rainelese stuck her paw out and her whole body ended up coming out of hiding as well. She was a distance away, but she could be seen fully now. She padded towards the two wolves, ears down. Then she waited to see who was going to speak next. When it got silent, Rainelese spoke. "Hello." She spoke in a low tone, but it was loud enough to be heard. She then looked at the male and then at the female. She put her ears up again.
Hopefully these wolves are harmless. She stared at the both of them. She looked at the sky and then she sniffed. She could of swore she smelled another, but she didn't see anything. Then she focused back on the two wolves. "I'm Rainelese, but you can call me Rainy. I don't mean any of you harm.." She paused and then she spoke again. "I happen to see you two and I got curious.." She then got quiet.

The sleek she-wolf watched as the male, looking kind of lost, awkwardly started talking to the female. It was so comical, she could barely hold back a snort. Quiet! No noise! she could spot no way to leave the area without drawing attention to herself. As soon as she jumped down from the tree, they would hear her. Anything else and they would see her... She watched as the male looked at the pup behind him, apparently not seeing it. The little white she-wolf blended in perfectly with the ground. She looks familiar, yet I know I have never seen her before... she narrowed her purple-dark eyes. The female was talking calmly with the male, and it was obvious none of them were aggressive or dangerous. Still...a different wolf like me always brings out the worst in others... she watched the pup come out of hiding and walk over to the pair. I have defiantly seen her before, but where?

As Mirage waited for Sirqim's reply, another voice blew in the wind. She looked around before looking down. Seeing the pup, she gave a friendly smile before speaking. "Hello." She said quietly. Unsure of why a pup would be a loner and not in a pack. Mirage had never seen a really young wolf outside of a pack. The pup's eye color definitely intrigued her. She smiled listening to Rainelese. Thinking quietly to herself. Harm? I don't think she could harm me or this large male, but I won't underestimate her... Mirage thought she heard a faint noise and looked around, but she guessed her imagination was playing games with her.
OOC: Sorry, writers block.
