Aztaz grabbed a leg bone from a dog and sat to wait further instruction.
Arkan sat. "everyone here? Good. As you know, we are learning about how to identify an enemys strengths and weaknesses as quick as possible. This is important because, as Guards, you will need to know how to defeat an enemy quickly and neatly. In your career, you will go up against every type of enemy."

Scourge: "for all you firstys, try to carve a simple design, like a flower or something."
Stoner:"you really think they want to carve flowers?"

Andre got to work on a complex design. He shielded it from all other wolves so they couldn't see it.
Lash flipped over her paw with the mark on it. She started to carve her paw print with the mark.

Scourge: "remember, only use your back teeth for cutting and your front teeth for fine detailing!" he and Stoner spred out to help anyone who was having trouble.
Aztaz studied his bone. there was a mark on it that looked like a wolf's eye. he chose his desigh and started carving.

Arkan continued. "in defending pups, I highly discourage killing. Fight to scare, not to kill. Kill only when nessisary. Anybody have any ideas of when it is nessisary?"
Kindle spoke up. "when your enemy is crazy, mental, or drunk."

Ripfang knew this one because it had happened when his mother was defending them. "When another wolf steals a pup." Lash had been taken from the nest once by a strange wolf and in a matter of minutes he was dead with blood pooling out of his mouth and neck.

"in that case you would be guarding the pup." Arkan said. "When someone takes what is guarded, kill." he got up and walked over to Ripfang. "I understand that you're new. what do you already know about guarding,in general."

Ripfang shrugged. "I dunno, my mom once did that, so I know that if the other wolf takes something you want or care for you kill in that situation. Other than that, not much."

Fuel snorted in the background. "sir, the lesson time is already half gone."
Arkan jumped. "oh my!" he ran up to the front of the class.

Aztaz studied his work. A proud wolf gazed at him from the bone, the two discolored spots making the eyes glow. He licked it a few times.
Scourge: "keep your carving if you wish. Put the ones you don't want here." he waved a paw at a small pile. "the advanced class will use them."
