The fur of the sleek black canine blended well with the burnt ground of the fiery craters. If he chose to stay here, dangerous as that might be given the large amount of fire-spitting craters, he would be able to camoflauge himself quite well if he didn't want to be found. Which was often, for this particular fellow, who was not particularly extroverted. Even when he had been a part of a pack, Holocaust had chosen to isolate himself from his packmates, preferring solitude in where he slept and spent most of his time. If they needed him, he would come, but otherwise he had been a very distant sort of ruler.
He panted lightly, trotting along through the lands. It was not a terribly suitable place for a wolf to live, but as a loner with little hope left in the world, he was starting to feel that it wasn't really so awful. It could be worse...he could be in the city, or in some clingy pack who wanted to speak with him all the time, or...
Well, maybe that wouldn't be so bad. A little company never hurt, even if one was a tad introverted. It was nice to have someone to talk to, even just every now and then. Sometimes Holo had wishes, wishes which he kept thoroughly to himself but nonetheless, wishes that he would go insane, just because having a hallucinatory companion seemed alright. A companion made from your mind, who could bother no one but you, who would keep you company on your life's journeys. It didn't seem so bad, he thought.
He shook some dust from his coat and stretched, deciding to rest for a moment (though taking care not to lie too close to any of the craters). He curled himself up, but kept his eyes open warily.

The dark gray wolf coughed a little, as some smoke entered her chest. She looked around and thought. 'Perfect for me. No body to annoy me and no one for me to gesture.' She sighed, softly. Her light gray paws were a bit glazed in dust. Her tail wasn't because each time her tail even had a spec of dust on it she'd shake it off. Her tail reminded her of herself. She had been shaking off every spec of drama that hit her. Her light green eyes looked around the surface. Was this really her dream home? Never looking around at any plains, cities, or life?
She smurked, showing her sharp, white teeth. Some called her Moonlight, but her real name was Moon. The name was given to her by her dead father. She tried not to give in to the thought of death, but still it haunted her. She knew how to get things, her 'little gift' some call it. She just says, 'It's my talent.'
Moon padded by a crater, noticing a black male wolf. She just paused and gave a glance, then she kept walking by.

Holocaust had believed this place to be ultimately abandoned by the living (apart from himself of course), he hadn't expected to find any creatures here. This was a place that reeked of death and emptiness. It reflected a certain kind of loneliness that Holocaust had expected, but now here, here was a female wolf wandering about the place with a similar sort of expression to that he had worn moments prior.
His eyes narrowed as she trotted into his view, glanced at him, and moved on without as much as a greeting. Introverted and quiet as he was, Holo believed in manners as much as the next fellow of his age (he was an older wolf, after all). "Hello, miss," he rumbled, glancing down his muzzle at the grey wolf before him.
He got the feeling she was not unlike him in that she probably didn't want to speak with him, but nonetheless he felt it necessary to greet. Had he been appearing as a human at that moment, he would have gently tipped his hat at her, but as a wolf he felt wearing a hat (or tipping it, for that matter) would be rather silly.

Moon kept on walking. She didn't think this male wolf would even speak, but he did. Her ears perked up to his voice. She stopped walking, but didn't look back. Had he been speaking to her? Well he had to be, unless there was another 'Miss' here. She turned her head back towards him and her body followed right after her head did, turning back around slowly. "Good evening." Was all she said, before sitting down. Mabey this wolf had a bit of manners, but Moon didn't. Of course sge couldn't be rude and say nothing to his greeting.
She wrapper her tail around her paws. She didn't say much for a moment. She actually didn't know much to say. She didn't really talk to many wolves, because most of the wolves she seen would just whistle or say nothing. This one interested her. No whistle, no rude comments and no silence when she walked by.
She finally looked down and decided to say something. "What's a wolf like yourself doing in a place like this?" She thought that was a dumb question, being it is he looked like the right wolf to be here. She waited for a response.

She responded, good. He would have thought it very rude had she just continued on her way without so much as a word to him. She looked young; he wouldn't have been surprised if she had been particularly lacking in manners. As a young lad, he hadn't been terribly good with remembering to use them -- though granted, some of the time he had simply left them out on purpose. He hadn't been a pleasant cub.
He pulled himself up from his lying down position so that he sat opposite her (he didn't like the idea of a younger female standing taller than him, being as he was a fair-sized specimen and all). He blinked calmly as she adjusted herself. Her body language suggested she was mildly uncomfortable -- she didn't trust him. Holocaust didn't blame her. He wouldn't trust himself either.
'I could ask you the same question, he thought. This really didn't seem fit for...well, anyone. This place should have been barren, clean of all life except that of himself. And Holo thought himself a hellish enough creature that he was fit indeed to live in a place in which fire spouted from holes in the ground. Very, very fitting, very fitting indeed.
He thought for a moment of a solid answer, besides 'avoiding the world', which seemed most appropriate. Instead, he answered with something simple and equally true, given his being a vagabond sort of canine: "Wandering." He paused, gently pawing at the dirt below his feet for a moment, drawing small circles. "Yourself?"

Moon watched, as the male stood up. Apparently he was trying to prove something, or else he would have stayed in his spot, he would have just layed there. 'Trying to prove something gramps?' She thought, getting a bit irritated. Though like her personality, she just shook it off. She gave the male wolf a glare. He seemed like he didn't feel right in his life. Of course she couldn't talk. She didn't feel right also. 'Life sucks.' She thought, looking down.
Her eyes glanced up, as he spoke. 'Wandering?' She tilted her head. 'If he was wandering he wouldn't have been laying down.' She shrugged, looking back down. 'If he wants to give me a answer like that, fine.' She began to move her tail back and forth, messing with a rock. She didn't even look up when he said 'Yourself?' She kept messing with a rock. "I live here. This dreaded place is my heaven. I was just heading back to my den." She wasn't going to tell him the whole truth, being it is he didn't tell her. She finally hit the rock away from her.

Ah, and there it was, that bit of rudeness all youngsters were born with, it seemed. 'Gramps', she had called him. Hilarious. Though given how quickly wolves matured, he could have easily been her grandfather, great-grandfather even, he took it badly nonetheless. He gave a slight snort, showing his teeth briefly in a way that was not aggressive, but not happy either. "Just because I'm older than you doesn't mean shit," he told her flatly, his voice bland and monotone. He had never been a master of emotions, so to speak. Everything that came from his lips seemed so cold.
He scratched lightly at an itch on his left shoulder; for some reason he found the places on his body with the most scars -- his shoulder and muzzle -- always seemed to itch inconveniently.
Holocaust leered at the female silently as she observed him. He had the feeling she didn't necessarily believe everything one hundred percent -- but Holo didn't care. He wouldn't believe himself either. He had once been a liar, and there was no reason for him to stop being one. And hell, he hadn't really told the truth to her, not really. He had told her a piece of the truth. He was indeed wandering, but of course, there was more to it than that. There was often motivation behind wandering, and such was the case with Holo.
His heart sank when she spoke at last. He had expected it to be empty, but it seemed this was hardly the case. This was the home of this she-wolf, who could very well have herself a pack. Holo found it difficult to find words with which to respond, besides the one, single one that did come out: "Oh."

OCC: Lol That Gramps thing was her thoughts. He couldn't hear it, but no need to change it. Moon jerked her head back a little, as the wolf spoke. "Hey. If there was a problem with your age I wouldn't have kept it in. I would have told you." She was beggining to not like this wolf. His addittude was not charming. Though he seemed 'wise', he wasn't. "You're not really from here. I can tell. No pack lives here, so I decided to."
She snickered at him. The shit that is going to happen with her was not something this mutt should be involved in. She was beggining to wish she'd never even seen him. She began to turn back and keep on walking, but she didn't want to be rude. So she waited for an exscuse to leave. 'Something happen..quick.' She thought.

Well, that was a relief. At least if it was just her, he would have less a problem offing her if he felt the need. Feeling less threatened, his stance relaxed a little. Holocaust nodded slowly. He wasn't sure he wanted to give away much of his background to this girl -- but hey, she might as well know that it was true, she'd guessed right on. He wasn't from around here, not at all. Holo was a vagabond and a wanderer and had walked for miles and miles away from the places he had once called 'home'. "No, I'm not from around here."
His lips twitched as she started snickering at him. "What're you laughing at?!" he snapped, feeling mildly irritated. He didn't like to be the butt of a joke, by any means. Polite and gentlemanly as Holocaust might be, he did not enjoy being laughed at, not at all.

Moon tilted her head a little. "Really? I just thought..well I'd think mabey no wolf would just go wandering around..exspecially here." She smurked. Finally her first smile, in this whole conversation. "I guess..I was wrong." She looked down. More life? Here? Discovering that another wolf would come here amazed her. She usually was alone in the world, but seeing more wolves made her not lonely anymore. Usually she'll not talk to other wolves, because they wouldn't understand.
She rose on all fours, as the male snapped at her. Her snout crinkled, her fur stood up and her teeth showed. "Hey! Watch it buster!" She kept her eyes on him. "Bad move to use when just meeting me. If you want to know what's funny, it's you." She quickly growled. "I laugh because it seems you know exactly how I feel." She put her ears down.

Ah, well that made sense. Such a similar thought process to his own -- he too, had believed no wolf would dare come here. Holo had searched for solitude, and assumed he would find it here, in a place that appeared to be desolate and abandoned. These lands may house many a wolf, but in a place in which fire shot up from the ground, he wouldn't have expected anyone to be here. So Holocaust quite understood her thoughts there, oh yes.
Though he stood still, his hackles flicking up a little more than they had a few moments prior while she stood as well, he did not snarl, nor did he aggress her; he simply stood his ground. When her ears flicked back, he felt safer again, and no longer threatened -- Holo's hackles flattened again, his tail lowered slowly. He felt this was probably meant to be an emotional moment for her, finding a likeminded being -- he didn't see it that way, particularly.
"That's lovely," he replied flatly, sitting down again.

Moon watched the male. She watched, as he settled down. Good. She stopped growling and her face turned back to normal. Her addittude changed all of a sudden. From angry to normal. Normal for her is happy/mischivous. She slowly sat back down.
"Lovely? Hm. I think it's interesting. I mean it's like finding a four leaf clover in a field." She looked down. "Exspecially with me having only a brother to lean on. He's gone off." She looked around. "So do you have any other family? To go back too?"

Family? now that was a tale for the ages.
Oh, he had family alright. Scattered across the globe no doubt -- a mother probably dead, and he had never even met his father. His siblings, how he despised them. He hoped they were dead (or at least, he hoped Taladyn was dead, goody-two-shoes bastard that he was), and who the hell knew what else was out there that shared blood with him.
And yet, she seemed to associate her brother with good things, she seemed sad that he had left. That she couldn't find him. Oh, but when Holocaust had left his family, left Taladyn and all his other god-awful siblings, he had been nearly joyous. It was a celebratory moment, and even if some of the decisions he had made after that were rather awful, he rarely regretted leaving the family pack. It had done him no good sitting around there.
"We aren't exactly on speaking terms," he growled softly.

Moon just sat there. Good Terms? Gasp! Mabey he killed his family! Wait..no. He seems a bit to nice to do that. Moon looked down. Mabey he just has lost loved ones and doesn't talk about it. She made a paw print in the dust. Or mabey his family just annoys him. She swushed her paw through the paw print, causing dust. She coughed. Then she scooted a bigger rock towards her paws with her tail.
She began to roll it back and forth. "Same with..well what's left of my family.." She stared at the rock. "My brother left me alone..He is probally having fun..While I'm stuck trying to find somewhere to sleep!" She swatted the rock and it hit a crater, causing it to spew the rock up. Moon held out her tail to catch the rock, as it landed in her tail. She began to play with it again.

He watched her, eyes narrowed slightly, as she kicked about dust and rocks, absently playing with nearby objects. Briefly, Holo wondered if this were a sign of her being nervous. Perhaps what he had said about his family had unsettled the lady? Ah well, so be it. Better she be a tad unsettled by him anyways -- he didn't like others being too close or dependant on him. In Holocaust's mind, having a little fear of him, wasn't really a bad thing necessarily.
Oh, so she was alone. Well, suck it up, buttercup. That's life for you. The ones who love you the most are the ones who hurt you the most, that's what Holo had learned. His life had been long enough that he knew this fact damn well.
However, sharing his world of advice with a young she-wolf he had only just met didn't seem like a great plan, especially given that he had only just met her. Holo was a blunt fellow at best, but he tried to hold his tongue. "That is..." he paused for a moment, thinking of how best to end this sentence. "Most unfortunate."
He watched again for a moment, and stayed silent, whilst she flipped the rock about. "I don't," he replied curtly.
