Vera looked at Scar. She was trying to hide her pregnancy. They were in their den in the cool morning of early fall. She was about to leave the pack because she knew the concecquences for having pups. When she had first joined the pack and become mates with Scar, she had been told NOT to have pups. Vera leaned close to Scar, and whispered into his ear, "I'm pregnant with your pups."

Scar jumped. "what!" he whispered. 'But...but....Night'll kill them! and maybe us!" he looked alarmed. "you'll have to go into hiding untill they are born..." his voice trained off."i know just the people that will help. you stay here and pretend to be sick or something. tell the others im looking for herbs to heal you." he ran off.
(three days later.)
Scar re-entered the den. "Vera?" he whispered into the dark.

Vera jumped awake now that Scar had been out. "You scared me! What do you want?"

"I talked to the Scratch Sisters of Sorrid City. They'll be happy to take care of you and the pups.I'll tell you how to get to Sorrid City later. We are going hunting now. I'll explain more when we get to the rabbit warrens."
He trotted out of the den.

"Um, ok?" Vera heaved herself up and padded out of the den. She was starting to get lazyer as the days went on. She just hoped no one could tell she was expecting. She slinked out of the camp and fallowed Scar. She presed up agaist him because the morning wind brushed throught her fur. "Where are you taking me?"

Scar looked at his mate." to the rabbit warrens. It's just before the elk stampead through. You'll run in the elk tracks, I'll give you more directions when we get closer. I don't want to be overheard."

"Oh." She nosed her way into Scar's shoulder fur. (The non-scared one) "I don't want to leave you so soon. I want you to see are pups and help me name them!" Vera wimpered, muffled by Scar's fur.

"I know. It's just I won't know them and your saying I might have to leave our pups with them? Are you sure they can be trusted?" Vera didn't know who he was talking about but she wanted to know more.
Ice was at the border of Leoni and Hokiro. She saw two black figures in the early morning. She could smell them, for she was downwind of them. Ice caught a sent of her sister! She knew it was her! She stayed on the border line and barked loud enough for them to hear.

Scar stiffened." who was that?" he growled." get down!" he pulled Vera behind a boulder." The Scratch Sisters are hired assassins, but wont kill pups or mothers. They can be very nice once you get to know them."

Vera was pulled down by Scar. She heard the bark and knew that something was very familiar about it. She got up and looked In the direction of the bark came from. Ice! Her sister! She still loved her and she would never kill or hurt her. Vera ran up the hill were her sister was standing. "I missed you so much!" she didn't yet know that it was her.
Ice saw her sister run up the hill to her. She could see that she had gained weight. But when she looked closer she knew she was pregnant like her. "me too!" ice exclaimed. She saw another wolf with her so she decided to ask who it was. "who is that other wolf with you?"
Vera was startled by the question. "oh, he's my mate. I joined the Leoni pack as you can see. They don't let the non-alphas have pups. So I'm running away to have my pups. Then I will leave and when my pups are old enough they will cone back and live with the pack." ceramics she needed to tell her sister what was happening. She looked back at Scar. She wanted her to meet him just in case they meet again and tried to kill eachother.

Scar put his ears back and growled. "what are you doing so close to the border, wolf?" he padded to Vera. "come, on, we don't need her blabbing our secrets to everyone."

Vera growled, and even though she was pregnant, she pounced on him and wispered in his ear, "Don't EVER talk that way to my SISTER!" She go up and sat down almost over the border.
Ice was startled. She never thought Vera would act that way twards her mate. She didn't know if she really loved him much or, that was all she could find of a mate. This wolf Scar looked like he loved her though.
